Organic coffee beans have a lot of benefits to humans, not only to the consumers but to the growers as well. These beans are grown without the use of commercially manufactured fertilizers and pesticides, which contains chemicals that are known to be harmful to the body. With the introduction of organic farming, people now have the opportunity to enjoy chemical-free coffee beans.

With organic coffee beans, people can enjoy healthier coffee. Because pesticides and fertilizers are not used to these beans, the natural mineral content of the soil is not depleted therefore the coffee bean plant absorbs the soil nutrients, which in turn bring about coffee beans with greater nutritional value than its non-organic counterpart. With organic growing of coffee beans, one is assured that every cup of coffee that he/she drinks is poison free. Chemicals in the herbicides, fungicides and pesticides contaminate the plant, which in turn can cause diseases to humans once eaten. Toxic chemicals are known to cause cancer. With organic farming, organic coffee beans do not have toxic chemicals that can harm the body.

Organically, grown coffee beans are known to be better tasting than non-organic coffee beans. The harmful chemicals in pesticides and fertilizers do not only cause diseases to humans, they also alter the taste of the food because the chemicals seep through the plants thereby altering its taste. Because coffee beans from organic farms do not contain these chemicals, the public is assured that these beans are more delicious than the non-organic ones.

Organic coffee beans can also be stored longer than its non-organic counterpart. This is primarily because the chemicals in pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and fungicides alter the cellular structure of the coffee plant which therefore results in shorter shelf life. With organic farming, the coffee plants are nourished naturally therefore its natural metabolic and structural integrity is maintained which causes the coffee beans to be less susceptible to molding and rotting. Organically grown coffee beans can be stored longer.

Farmers are also benefitted by organically grown coffee beans. Once the soil is properly restored to its balanced and healthy state, the coffee plants are known to be healthier that they resist diseases and pests. Weeds, which often cause problems to farmers because they compete with the coffee plants, are also managed through organic farming. Weeds restore damaged soil but since the soil in organic farming is health, the weeds do not compete with the crops anymore.

Organic farmers also do not spend on pesticides and fertilizers thereby lowering the cost of coffee production. Coffee plants in organic farming are also drought resistant because no harmful chemicals enter the plants’ bodies. Organic coffee beans also command a higher price because consumers are willing to pay a premium for the greater food value that these coffee beans offer.
